October Wrap Up and November Goals

I hope everyone had a great Halloween! Lets see how I did with my October goals.

Consistency with running/following my training plan: I only did okay with this. I managed to get my maintenance runs in during the week, but struggled to fit my longer runs into the jam-packed weekends. Luckily, I could get away with this because it was the very beginning of the training plan, but that's not going to be the case from here on out. The lesson I learned? Training for a 19.3 mile challenge isn't going to work if I make it secondary. Runs have to be a priority.

Finish "The Four Corners" Project: You guys, I am super proud to say I completed it! However, it's kind of written all over the place...stored on my little red flash drive, hand-written pages stuffing a folder, a few hundred words on my iPad and at least one scene written on the back of a Target receipt because that's just when inspiration struck. BUT, even in its fragmented form, it is complete. It will probably take me another month to piece it all together. My goal is to have it in readable form by the beginning of the year. Any test readers out there?

Finished! And in fragments.

And now on to November.

National Novel Writing Month: This is so fun. Abbreviated NaNoWriMo (jury is still out on how I feel about that one), it's a goal to write at least 50,000 words of a novel starting November 1. I'm all signed up, outlined and ready to go. I don't know if I'll make the 50,000 words, but I'm sure going to try--and the best part is that there's a built in social network of writers. Writing is such a solitary act, it's fun to be involved in a group, even if it is all online. Anyone else out there involved? Let me know, and we'll connect!

Follow my "Glass Slipper Challenge Goal Book": After my October struggle to stay on my training plan, I decided I needed to make things a little more appealing. We've been talking a lot about rewards systems in our house lately, due to a strong-willed three-year-old who is already way smarter than his mother. So I made myself a pretty little notebook that lays out my training plan, nutrition goals, and what I get if I complete them all. Lets hope the rewards system works better with mom than kid.

Any excuse for a Disney scrapbook!

Celebrate Thankfulness: I really try to be thankful every day, and take a moment to quietly meditate on how lucky I am to lead the life I do. But I would like to project that outward a little more this month, and I would like to get my son involved in the process as well.
Fall Cleaning: I don't know about you guys, but all of a sudden my home seems to be overtaken with stuff and clutter. We're just running out of space! And since building an addition on our fifth floor apartment would probably be frowned upon, it's time to do some fall cleaning. Weed through some clothes, clean out the junk drawer(s) and try and attempt to locate the back of the under-the-sink cabinet that is currently hidden by all the shopping bags I hoard.

The junk drawer is out of control.

What are your November goals? Do you ever resort to bribing yourself like I've done?

  1. Sounds like some good goals. I am going to aim for my 30 days of thanks done daily (through 12/5 since I started late) and work on actually taking a picture every day.
